A novel by Madeleine Bourdouxhe is transformed into the compelling story of a woman, stunningly performed by Emmanuelle Devos, who at times feels like nothing more than Gilles’ wife. Set in 1930’s in a small mining town of northern France, this silent and devoted wife struggles with the realization that her husband is sleeping with her own sister.
